BioProtect - About BioProtect

BioProtect is an antimicrobial solution coating applied to DARAY’s products for infection control. Our core products are medical, dental and veterinary lighting products used by medical staff treating patients. Infection controls are the highest risk in patient environments. BioProtect provides excellent protection against illness-causing bacteria such as MRSA, Salmonella, E. coli, Campylobacter and many other bacteria and fungal growths.

Whilst maintaining the need for good hygiene practices, the BioProtect® antimicrobial products represent an excellent complementary measure that inhibits bacterial growth between normal cleaning cycles.

BioProtect provides class leading antimicrobial performance, protecting against both fungal and bacterial contamination.

Utilizing the natural antimicrobial properties of silver, the BioProtect coating is incorporated directly into the polymer or powder coated finish of our handles and therefore remains effective for the lifetime of the product.

The active component of the BioProtect coating is notified under the European Biocidal Products Directive and has FDA, EFSA and EPA approval.

Independent Laboratory tests have consistently demonstrated that BioProtect antimicrobial coating will reduce the population of bacteria such as MRSA and E.Coli by between 99.99% and 99.9999% within 24 hours.

Performance of BioProtect® against MRSA

The coating is sufficiently robust for demanding medical applications. The active ingredient is built into the powder coat finish of the handles on our lights and will remain antimicrobial for the lifetime of the product.

In addition to is antimicrobial properties, the BioProtect coating provides protection from corrosion and fungal growth. The coating offers excellent resistance to most chemicals including cleaning products, and will not discolour with age.
